Cute can-- errrrr, I mean has Sanrio gone too far this time???

Yes, my dear friends, this is a REAL can of motor oil. It comes from Japan (naturally) and sells for 2980 Yen ($33).

What will this brave and fearless kitten think of next?

E.S. Kluft & Co.'s hand-tufted, king-size Palais Royale mattress and box spring is Made with horsehair, silk and gold. It is currently the most expensive American-made mattress set on the market. The company says it has sold about 100 since introducing it in 2008. If the Palais Royale isn't expensive enough for you, then you may want to consider Kluft's $44,000 Sublime model which is set to launch later on this year.

Now, if the mattresses above STILL don't convince you, then you should head over to Hästens Sangar of Sweden and purchase a Hästens Vividus mattress for your love nest. The Vividus bed is handmade to order according to the customer’s specifications and takes between 140 and 160 hours to make. It has a Swedish-pine frame, and  it is layered with horsehair, cotton, flax and wool. It sells for $69,500, and the company has sold approximately 250 since it was introduced in 2006.

Dutch bedding company "Snurk" has designed some fun bedding that will make you do a double take. Their newest line is called the "White Laundry Series," and it creates the illusion of white laundry pieces (bra, thong, sock, shirt) being left on your bed. I'm sure this series will make any neat freak go crazy!

Other cool "Snurk" collections include "Le Clochard" which creates the illusion of being covered with cardboard boxes, and "Le Trottoir" which creates the illusion of sleeping on pavement. A large portion of the proceeds from these two collections go to SZN (a foundation for homeless youngsters in the Netherlands).

"Sex & The City"is one movie where everything is considered," says designer Lydia Marks, who decorated the sets for the first film as well as the sequel. As set decorator, Marks is responsible for every detail, from a magazine perched on a coffee table to what's inside an actress's purse when she opens it.

The film's production called for high-end sets, including a Morocco hotel, which was empty prior to shooting. Marks had to completely decorate the hotel, but it was Carrie and Big's Manhattan pad -- which featured custom-made carpets, gold-leaf lighting fixtures, antique furniture, and closet doors with obscenely expensive hardware -- that got the most fabulous décor.

Marks, who also designed sets for "The Devil Wears Prada," talked to StyleList about her favorite "SATC2" pieces. Die-hard fans -- with Big money -- can even buy some of Carrie's featured furnishings.

: Some pieces you rented for Big and Carrie's apartment are now for sale. Where can we see them?
LM: The two vintage armchairs in the living room are at Bergdorf Goodman in New York, the custom light fixture from the library is at Lindsey Adelman Studio, and the dining room table is at Alan Moss Studios in Manhattan.

SL:
How did you choose those three pieces?
LM: The armchairs: I was at Bergdorf's looking for a table runner for Charlotte's long, formal dining table. I turned and there were these two exquisite blue armchairs. They became the centerpiece of Big and Carrie's living room, and I ended up basing a lot of the other furniture on these chairs.

The chandelier: I needed a fabulous light fixture for the library. Lindsey Adelman custom-made the hanging fixture, with gorgeous handblown glass globes laced with 14-carat gold foil and gold murrine, all connected into a cluster with brushed brass stems. It's la luxe lamp; [Lindsey Adelman Studio] is like couture for lamps.

German cookware company Fissler displayed its collection of cookware and flatware in Tokyo on high-fashion pieces designed by Chinami Kamishima.

A very fun, creative & unique way to market their products, if we may say so ourselves! We like! :)

Why???

This is another one of those things that are "ridiculously expensive for no reason but that some idiot will buy anyway because it has a designer’s logo on it.” Yup.

Artist Meekyoung Shin specializes in crafting vases and statuary that look like they came from another century. Her work ranges from busts of Venus and Cycladic statues to gorgeous vases so thin that they're translucent. They're beautiful, seen in galleries and exhibitions all over the place — and they're all made of soap. That's right, the artist crafts her pieces, which she calls "translations," from run-of-the-mill suds. Recently, she even crafted a gold-plated Buddha out of soap. What do you think of her work?
